Der in seiner Art ungewöhnliche Kenotaph besitzt auf allen vier Seiten einen geometrischen Dekor (acht-zackige Sterne mit umgebenden Hexagonen), dessen Einzelelemente (Sterne, Polygone) aus einem Brett geschnitzt sind, d.h. sie heben sich deutlich von Grund ab. Auffällig ist ferner die große Relieftiefe sowie die nicht sehr exakte Schnitzarbeit. Die historisch relevanten Inschriften befinden sich auf einzelnen Sternen bzw. Hexagonen.

Der Kenotaph besitzt außer einer langen Inschrift auf dem Rahmen (Qur'an Verse in naskhi) drei weitere Inschriften (Curatola 1987, 98): 1. Inschrift (auf einem 8er Ster): "'amal-i muhammad ibn 'abdallah ibn abu'l qasim isfahani, fi dhi-qa'da sana ... wa sittami'a"; work of Muhammad b. 'Abdallah ... in Dhi-Qa'da of the year ... and six-hundred" , d.h. der Kenotaph ist zwischen 601 und 699 (1204-05 und 1299-1300) entstanden. Curatola (1987) spricht sich für die spätest mögliche Datierung (Anfang 14. Jh.) aus. - 2. Inschrift (aufgeteilt auf zwei Achtecke): "'amil-i in naqsh-i 'ali naqqar-i isfahani qhulam-i mardan; nivisanda-yi in khatt jalal asadi abhari du'a mikhahad": "The maker of this design is Ali, the carver of Isfahan, slave of the warriers; the scribe of this writing, Jalal Asadi of Abhar, begs for prayer". - 3. Inschrift (auf einem 8er Stern, sehr schwer zu lesen): "yadam (?) masjid-i al-amir bulgha ... ahsana'llah 'aqibatihi fi'd-darayn": "May the mosque of the Amir Bulgh be everlasting (?) ... may God favour his issue in both worlds".
